IRRADIATION OF IRON

ETIOLOGY
Metal frame aquarium, constantly being in a humid environment, is corroded. Pieces of swollen and exfoliated metal fall into the aquarium, where steel precipitates as iron hydroxide. Iron hydroxide can enter the aquarium with drops of water falling from the surface of the frame above the sprayer. Iron hydroxide is contained in soft spring water with acid reaction.

SYMPTOMS AND PATHOGENESIS
Iron hydroxide destroys the surface of the gills and causes poisoning of fish.

PREVENTION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The upper sides of the frame are recommended to be made of strip steel. The inner and outer sides of the frame are recommended to be covered with insulating paint or bitumen, or cling plasticine to those sides of the frame that are located above the sprayer. The safest are all-glass aquariums or aquariums made of organic glass.
