INVASION DISEASES

TRIENOPHOROZ

THE REBATTER
Helminths of Trieaenophorus nodulosus and Trieaenophorus crasus. The adult is a flat, white helminth. Length up to 40 cm, width up to 6 mm.

BIOLOGY
Development occurs with the participation of two intermediate hosts: copepods (first host), eaten by herbivorous fish, and herbivorous fish (second owner), eaten by predatory fish. Vegetable-eating fish can catch by eating the contents of the abdominal cavity of dead fish.

SYMPTOMS AND PATHOGENESIS
The disease is characterized by liver damage (in herbivorous fish) or intestines (in predatory fish). Trieaenophorus crasus, in addition, parasitizes under the skin and directly in the muscles, leading to mass death of fish. After some time after infection, the abdomen of the fish increases, its walls stretch and become transparent. Fish behave sluggishly, they get worse and then completely lose their appetite. Violated the function of the liver, then the whole body. In the end, the disease causes a massive loss of fish.

DIAGNOSIS
The disease is diagnosed on the basis of epizootic analysis, examination and autopsy results.

PATHOLOGYANATOMIC CHANGES
Predators of adult helminths can be found in the intestines, and in herbivorous fish in the liver and muscles. The surface and inner part of the liver is covered with numerous white-gray capsules, inside of which are the plercercoids. The liver is greatly enlarged.

TREATMENT
Preparations for adding to dry food:

  • 100 mg piperazine per 25 g feed;
  • 200 mg of sulfamonomethoxin per 50 g of feed.

Pipe and bloodworms are insisted in a liquid 5% piperazine for 15 to 20 minutes. Term of treatment is 1 - 2 weeks.

PREVENTION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
It should immediately remove the fish from the aquarium.
