THE REBATTER
Sucker Diplozoon paradoxum. Length up to 6.7 mm, width up to 1.7 mm. Propagates by eggs. Larvae swim in the water, pairing together in the form of a cross. At the front end there are two suckers, on the back - hooks.

BIOLOGY
The larvae enter the gills when the fish breathe.

SYMPTOMS AND PATHOGENESIS
The gill apparatus of fish is affected by several species of helminths - spayers. On the gills, gray swellings form. Then they are covered with a layer of mucus, and asphyxiation begins. The fish keeps at the surface of the water, swallows the air. Appetite disappears. The acute course of the disease leads to death.

DIAGNOSIS
The disease is diagnosed on the basis of the results of a parasitological analysis of fish after detection of helminth spiens.

TREATMENT
Treatment is not developed. You can recommend the following preparations for adding to aquarium water:

  • 8 mg of chlorophos per 10 liters of water;
  • 15 mg of copper sulfate per 10 liters of water;
  • 0.03 g rivanol for 10 liters of water.

Baths:
  • 0,2 - 0,5 g of table salt per 10 liters of water, holding time 20 - 25 minutes;
  • 0.2 g potassium permanganate per 10 liters of water, aging 20 - 25 minutes;



PREVENTION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Carry out disinfection of the aquarium with a solution of common salt, baking soda, treat manufacturers with trypaflavin or 3% solution of common salt, aging for 5 minutes. Overdose of chlorophos and copper sulfate can adversely affect the state of fish. Be careful when using these medications!
