THE REBATTER
Worm-flukes of the family Discocotylidae. Body lanceolate, oblate, 6-9 mm long. At the front end there are two suckers, on the back - an attachment disk with four pairs of valves and a pair of hooks in the middle. They live one by one or grow in pairs.

BIOLOGY
Hermaphrodites. They reproduce by eggs, in which larvae mature and develop. After leaving the egg, they freely swim in the water column, fall on the gills of the fish and develop for several days in adult parasites.

SYMPTOMS AND PATHOGENESIS
The trematodes dig into the branchial petals and suck the blood. At the same time the gills turn pale, they are covered with mucus, they can be seen bleeding wounds. Anemia develops.

DIAGNOSIS
The disease is diagnosed on the basis of symptoms of the disease and the results of microscopic examination of mucus.

TREATMENT
Baths:

  • 2,5 - 5% solution of table salt, aging 4 - 5 minutes;
  • 2.5% salicylic acid solution, aging for 30 minutes.
