Aponogeton crispus (Aponogeton Crispus)


Aponogetonaceae (Aponogetonovye) family.
Curled named wavy edges of the sheet.
Distribution of South India, Sri Lanka.
Variability of water plant. Tuber size up to 5 cm. Surface leaf blade with a petiole up to 10 cm, Blends Ribbon, with a wavy or corrugated, rarely flat edge, up to 50 cm long, 4.5 cm wide, from light to dark green or reddish color. Water sheet up to 20 cm long, 5 cm wide.
Peduncle up to 75 cm long, under the inflorescence thickened. Opaque sheet up to 2.5 cm in length fall away. Inflorescence usually with one spikelet up to 13 cm long with a circular arrangement of flowers, 2 white, pink or light purple tepals and 6 stamens, carpel 3, each with 2 ovules. Fruit size up to 18 x 7 mm, seeds - up to 12 x 5 mm, peel ordinary.
Aquatic plant, recommended for the maintenance of the aquarium. This fast-growing tuberous plants in large quantities are regularly exported from Asia. Type likes soft, slightly acidic water with a temperature of 25 - 32 degrees C, but it may also contain water from the medium to hard hardness, while its CO2 saturation. The nutrient-rich soil, it quickly grows to 30 - 50 cm, so it is recommended large aquariums. Although relevant content tubers do not need a period of rest, yet from time to time, they should be removed from the tank and can withstand dry, otherwise they will quickly dwindle.
View usually grows in temporary ponds or small lakes, which can dry out completely during the dry season. In Sri Lanka, they are also found in man-made reservoirs.
