Arsenic trioxide has some crystallographic shapes. Among them, two exist: arsenolit (cubic) and klaudetit (monoclinic). The first crystals that are visible to the naked eye, are rare; it occurs in the form of clusters and earthy crusts, light gray and gray. Klaudetit very similar to the gypsum and is present in the form of flexible tabular crystals. Caution must be exercised, since arsenic compounds are toxic.
Diagnostic features.
Arsenolit soluble in water.
Origin.
Arsenolit as klaudetit is an oxidation product of various arsenic minerals, primarily arsenic and native realgar.
Deposits and application.
Arsenolit found in many places, including Sainte-Marie-au-Maine in Alsace, Louth and Yoganngeorgenshtadt in Saxony, in the Valtellina Sondalo and Borgofranko about Ivrea. For klaudetita most typically deposit Sёmolnok (Hungary) and the number of mine from California to Arizona (USA).
