(Ti, Pb) 2 (Cu, Ag) As 5 S 10
Diamond orthogonality
Hardness 1.5-2
Specific weight 4,6
Cleavage is good
Color red
Luster diamond to semi-metallic
It is represented by rhombic prismatic crystals of alo-red, carmine-red, light black and red color. Shine diamond or semimetallic. The mineral is transparent or translucent.
Diagnostic signs.
It is an example of a birefringent crystal. Associated with realgar, sphalerite, pyrite, sarritite, smithite and other rare sulphosalts.
Origin.
One of the rare thallium sulfosalts in the Lengenbach dolomites (Switzerland).
Place of Birth.
In addition to Switzerland, hatchinsonite is also found in Kiriwilka (Peru) in the form of fine elongated crystals up to 2 cm in length. They form various aggregates and druses with an auripigment, exclusively regular crystals of enargite, pyrite and barite.
Application.
The mineral is not widely spread, therefore it is of interest only for collectors.
