BCC "Vintorez" and AS "Val"
BCC (Special Sniper Rifle) - a silent sniper rifle for special forces. GRAU index - 6P29. It was developed in the 1980s at TsNIItochmash in the city of Klimovsk under the leadership of P. I. Serdyukov. The name "Vintorez" remained in use after its use in the design documentation.
A special submachine gun manufactured at the Tula Arms Factory - AS Val and a special sniper rifle - VSS Vintorez, which uses special cartridges of nine millimeters caliber, despite their age, enjoy well-deserved love and respect not only from fighters of special forces of law enforcement agencies, GRU special forces, but also ordinary military scouts.
Thanks to the use of special SP-5 and SP-6 cartridges and, as is now customary to say, the integrated silencer AS and BCC not only shoot almost silently, but they are also able to penetrate the enemy’s individual armor protection elements corresponding to class 3 according to Russian GOST, in particular body armor and safety helmets at ranges up to 400 meters.
As an observer for the Military Industrial Courier newspaper told the Airborne Troops intelligence officer, when in 1993 the 45th separate reconnaissance regiment of the Airborne Forces was formed in Kubinka, Moscow Region, it was impossible to immediately find the BCC and AC for this unique military unit. “They were mainly in the GRU special forces brigades, and then in very limited numbers, and knowing about the capabilities of these silent“ trunks ”, no one wanted to share.
But in the special forces brigade of the Armed Forces of Belarus, based since the Soviet era in Maryina Gorka, there were both AS and VSS. In the USSR, she was considered one of the best brigades, and her command knew the value of these systems. However, Belarusians did not have SP-5 and SP-6 cartridges and their delivery was not expected. Therefore, although with a creak, they nevertheless exchanged the Russian GRAU AS and BCC with other models of small arms, ”the source recalls. The scout also noted that it was the AS and the BCC that provided the 45th orp and the FSB special forces with high efficiency during the storming of Grozny in the winter of 1994-1995.
“We then stood at the cannery in Grozny. Militant snipers constantly harassed us, especially at night. In a couple of days I lost five soldiers killed and wounded. When the paratroopers appeared with night vision devices and silent "snipers", we immediately sighed calmly, a senior Defense Ministry spokesman, who was then a commander of a motorized rifle platoon, told the Military Industrial Courier columnist. But still, more than 20 years have passed, and no matter how wonderful the speakers and the BCC are, they need to be modernized.
“In the mid-2000s, we tried to somehow independently install new sights on the BCC and AC. Say, the regular PSO-1 is, to be honest, an anachronism. But if you can order a lot of things for Kalashnikov assault rifles abroad, then for “Shafts” and “Vintorezov”, because of their secrecy, this is not possible. So we came up with how to set the Picatinny and Vivera bars, LTC and even tactical lights. They independently drilled, secured adapters, etc. The weapon is excellent, but it must be consistent with modern requirements for the “body kit,” explains an officer of one of the special forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Currently, these problems are largely resolved. So, according to the leadership of the Tula arms factory, now, together with the Klimovsky TsNIITOCHMASH, the developer of Vala and Vintoreza, work is underway to improve the nuclear power and air forces.
And soon, a silent machine gun and sniper rifle will be presented with the Picatinny and Vivera rails installed, which will make it possible to mount not only modern sniper, but also collimator and holographic sights, to which you can also add the so-called magnifiers.
It is noteworthy that we are talking not only about the popular foreign special forces soldiers Aimpoint and Eotech, but also about the sights of domestic development. And the usual plastic stores will be replaced with transparent ones, which allow controlling the consumption of ammunition. “To be honest, now we have some good night vision sights, so for operations in the dark, we would like to get not new developments, but an LC, whose beam is visible in the NVD.
At one time, we independently mounted target designators on our Shafts, but it was artisanal, ”a special forces officer shared his impressions with the VPK observer. Now, thanks to the TOZ, the problems will be resolved and unique silent automatic rifles and sniper rifles will meet the requirements of such demanding customers as fighters and special forces officers, scouts.
