CONTIGUOUS ZONE

- Sea zone that is located beyond the territorial sea adjacent to it and the outer boundary of which is at a distance of 24 nautical miles, measured from the baselines from which the breadth of the territorial sea.

PZ delimitation between Russia and the states, the coast of which are adjacent to the coast of the Russian Federation, carried out on the basis of universally recognized principles and norms of international law.

The PZ exercise the control necessary to:

1) prevent infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary regulations;

2) penalties for violations of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary regulations committed in the territory of the Russian Federation.

The PZ following measures: 1) the detention of the perpetrators;

2) hot pursuit;

3) stopping, inspection and detention of foreign vessels violators.
