FEDERAL SECURITY SERVICE

- a single centralized system of bodies of the federal security service and border troops, carrying out activities to ensure the security of the Russian Federation.

Leadership of the FSB

Is carried out by the President of the Russian Federation. Management is carried out by the head of the federal executive body in the field of security, who is appointed and dismissed by the President of the Russian Federation.

The FSB includes:

1) the federal executive body in the field of security;

2) territorial security agencies;

3) security agencies in the troops;

4) the management of the federal executive body in the field of security provision for the border guard service;

5) other security agencies;

6) aviation units, special training centers, special purpose units, enterprises, educational institutions, research, expert, forensic experts, military medical and military construction units and other institutions and units designed to support the activities of the FSB.

The main activities of the FSB are:

1) counterintelligence activity;

2) combating crime and terrorist activities;

3) intelligence activity;

4) border activities;

5) ensuring information security.

Obligations of the FSB:

1) to inform the President of the Russian Federation, the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, federal bodies of state power, public authorities of the subjects of the Russian Federation about threats to the security of the Russian Federation;

2) to identify, prevent and suppress the intelligence and other activities of special services and organizations of foreign states;

3) to identify, prevent, suppress and disclose crimes under the jurisdiction of the FSB;

4) to identify, prevent and suppress acts of terrorism;

5) to develop and implement measures to combat corruption, illegal circulation of arms and narcotic drugs, smuggling, the activities of illegal armed groups;

6) ensure the security of the facilities of the defense complex, nuclear energy, transport and communications, life support of large cities and industrial centers;

7) ensure the safety of federal bodies of state power and public authorities of the subjects of the Russian Federation;

8) participate in the development and implementation of measures to protect information that constitutes a state secret;

9) implement measures to ensure the protection and protection of the State Border, protection and protection of economic and other legitimate interests of the Russian Federation within the border area, exclusive economic zone and continental shelf;

The FSB has the right:

4) carry out cryptographic work in the bodies of the FSB;

5) use for communication purposes communication facilities belonging to state enterprises, institutions and organizations;
