BOARD ON THE OPEC IN THE UNITED NATIONS

- one of the main organs of the United Nations, established by the UN Charter and supervising the development of relations between the members of the UN and the territories under their care.

The Council carries out its activities under the leadership of the UN General Assembly.

The Trusteeship Council consists of those members of the United Nations who manage territories under trusteeship and who do not manage such territories, as well as from the number of other members of the United Nations elected by the General Assembly for three years, if necessary to ensure that the total number of members of the Council The trusteeship was distributed equally among UN members, managers and non-administrators of guardianship territories.

Each member of the Trusteeship Council appoints one particularly qualified person who is his representative to the Council.

The Trusteeship Council is authorized:

1) review reports submitted by the administering authority;

2) accept petitions and consider them, consulting with the administering authority;

3) arrange periodic visits to the respective territories under guardianship in accordance with the terms agreed with the administering authority;

4) to take the aforementioned and other actions in accordance with the terms of the trusteeship agreements.

The Trusteeship Council develops a questionnaire on the political, economic and social progress of the population in each territory under guardianship, as well as on its progress in the field of education, and the administering authority of each territory under the trusteeship of the General Assembly submits the latest annual reports based on this questionnaire.

Decisions of the Trusteeship Council shall be taken by a majority of the members present and voting. Each member of the Council has one vote.

The Trusteeship Council shall adopt its own rules of procedure, including the procedure for electing its President. Meetings of the Council shall be convened as necessary in accordance with its rules of procedure, which should provide for the convening of meetings at the request of a majority of the members of the Council. In doing so, the Trusteeship Council shall benefit from the assistance of the Economic and Social Council and the specialized agencies with respect to issues in which they are respectively interested.

If the guardianship agreement is approved, one of the UN members becomes the administering authority of the territory under trusteeship, and the General Assembly, if necessary, conducts elections to the Trusteeship Council. Members of the United Nations elected in this way at a regular session shall take office immediately upon their election. A member of the Trusteeship Council who does not manage territories under trusteeship is elected for three years and may be re-elected.
