Medication Description: Epithalamin (Epytalaminum)
A preparation containing a complex of polypeptide fractions isolated from the epithalamic-epiphyseal region of the brain of cattle.

The epithalamus (supralamal region of the brain) and the epiphysis (pineal or pineal gland of the brain) secrete a significant amount of neurohormones (including melatonin) involved in regulating the functions of the endocrine system, in particular the hypothalamus and the anterior pituitary, as well as other body systems. So, they normalize the secretion of pituitary gonadotropic hormones (see gonadotropins).
