Description of the medicine: Epithalamin (Epytalaminum)
A preparation containing a complex of polypeptide fractions isolated from the epithalamic-epiphyseal region of the cattle brain.
Lyophilized powder of white or white with a yellowish tint. Sparingly soluble in water.
The epithalamus (suprathalamic region of the brain) and the pineal gland (pineal or pineal gland of the brain) secrete a significant amount of neurohormones (including melatonin) involved in the regulation of the functions of the endocrine system, in particular the hypothalamus and the anterior pituitary, as well as other body systems. So, they normalize secretion by a pituitary gonadotropin hormones (see. Gonadotropins).
Epithalamin, as a drug that regulates the functions of the endocrine system, has found application in the treatment of menopausal myocardial dystrophies associated with impaired ovarian function.
Applies intramuscularly epithalamin. The contents of the vial (10 mg) are dissolved in 1 - 2 ml of an isotonic sodium chloride solution or 0.25 - 0.5% novocaine solution immediately before injection. 5-10 mg are administered daily for 5-10 days. A repeated course is carried out if necessary after 3 to 6 months.
Release form: in glass bottles on 0,01 g (10 mg) on 5 or 10 bottles in packing.
