Description of the medicine: Cordiaminum (Cordiaminum)
Cordiaminum (Cordiaminum). 25% solution of nicotinic acid diethylamide.
Synonyms: Anacardone, Cardiamidum, Coraethamidum, Coramin, Cormed, Corvitol, Corvoton, Nicethamidum, Nikethamide, Nicorine, Nikorin, Tonocard, etc.
Colorless or yellowish liquid with a peculiar odor. Miscible with water and alcohol in all ratios. Sterilized at + 100 C for 30 minutes.
Cordiamine stimulates the central nervous system, excites the respiratory and vasomotor centers (especially with a reduced tone of the vasomotor center). There is no direct stimulatory effect on the heart and a vasoconstrictor effect. In large (toxic) doses, it can cause clonic convulsions.
It is used in acute and chronic circulatory disorders, with a decrease in vascular tone and weakening of breathing in patients with infectious diseases and in convalescent patients, with acute collapse and asphyxiation, with shock conditions that occur during surgery and in the postoperative period, as well as with asphyxiation of newborns.
Applied orally (before meals) and parenterally.
Inside, they give adults 15 to 40 drops per reception 2 to 3 times a day, for children - as many drops per reception as the child is years old. Under the skin, intramuscularly and into a vein, it is administered to adults in a dose of 1-2 ml 1 to 3 times a day, for children under the skin 0.1 to 0.75 ml, depending on age. The introduction into the vein should be slow.
Cordiamine is sometimes used for poisoning with drugs, sleeping pills, analgesics. Enter into a vein (slowly) either under the skin, or intramuscularly; dose for adults 3 to 5 ml.
Subcutaneous and intramuscular injections of cordiamine are painful; sometimes, preliminary injections of novocaine (1 ml of 0.5 - 1% solution) are sometimes injected into the injection site.
Higher doses for adults inside: single 2 ml (60 drops), daily 6 ml (180 drops); under the skin: single 2 ml daily 6 ml.
The drug is contraindicated in predisposition to convulsive reactions. With an overdose, convulsions are possible.
Method of release: in ampoules of 1 and 2 ml for injection; in a syringe tube of 1 ml; in vials for oral administration.
Storage: List B. The drug for oral use is stored in orange glass vials, for injection, in a dark place.
