Medication Description: Dexetimidum
DEXCETIMIDE (Dexetimidum). (+) -2- (1-Benzyl-4-piperidyl) -2-phenylglutarimide hydrochloride.
Synonyms: Tremblex, Dexbenzetimide, Serenone, Tremblex.
Possesses central anticholinergic activity, effective in extrapyramidal disorders. It has a prolonged effect. The duration of action after a single intramuscular dose reaches 2 to 4 days.
Applied with parkinsonism and especially for the prevention and treatment of extrapyramidal disorders caused by antipsychotic drugs.
An intramuscular injection is administered to adults simultaneously with the use of a neuroleptic drug in a dose of 0.125-0.375 mg (1-3 ml).
Side effects and contraindications are the same as in other anticholinergic drugs (see Cyclodol). It should be carefully assessed the feasibility of prescribing the drug during pregnancy.
Product form: in 2 ml ampoules containing 0.25 mg 0.00025 g in the ampoule) of the product in a package of 3 ampoules.
