Medication Description: Efavirenz (Ifavirenz)
Synonym: Stocrin, Stocrin.
Direct HIV-1 reverse transcriptase inhibitor, does not act on HIV-2 reverse transcriptase.
When ingestion is well absorbed, C max is 5 h, T Ѕ - 52-76 h; Biotransformation in the liver, excreted by the kidneys.
Used in the treatment of HIV infection (mainly in combination with two nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors). In combined treatment regimens, non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors replace protease inhibitors in some cases.
Assign inside adults to 0.6 g, children - 0.2-0.6 g 1 time per day.
The main side effects include neurological and mental disorders (dizziness, drowsiness, depression, hallucinations, ataxia, neuralgia, convulsions, impaired vision and hearing, amnesia, etc.); there are skin rash, dyspeptic symptoms, nephrolithiasis, hematuria, peripheral edema, arthralgia, myalgia.
Product form: capsules of 0.05 and 0.1 g (N. 30) and 0.2 g (N. 42, 90).
