Description of the medicine: Thioproperazine (Thioproperazinum)
THIOPROPERAZIN (Thioproperazinum). 2-Dimethylsulfamido-10- [3- (1-methyl-piperazinyl-4) propyl] phenothiazine.
Available in the form of: dimethanesulfonate.
Synonyms: Majeptil, Cephalin, Majeptil, Thioperazine, Vontil.
The chemical structure is distinguished by the presence of a dimethyl sulfamide group at position 2 of the phenothiazine nucleus instead of the chlorine atom of meterazine and the trifluoromethyl group of triftazine.
It has a strong antiemetic effect, has a weak sedative effect, weakly potentiates the effect of sleeping pills and analgesics, and has a weak adrenolytic effect.
A strong antipsychotic effect is combined with a stimulating (inhibiting) effect, which is clinically manifested by motor hyperactivity.
The drug is effective for hebephrenic and continuously flowing catatonic forms of schizophrenia, as well as other forms of schizophrenia with a progressive course.
Assign inside after meals and intramuscularly. The initial dose of 0.001 - 0.005 - 0.01 g (1 - 5 - 10 mg) per day with a gradual increase to 0.05 - 0.06 g (50 - 60 mg) per day in 3 to 4 doses. If necessary, the daily dose is increased to 0.1 - 0.15 g. Upon reaching the therapeutic effect, the dose is gradually reduced.
Intramuscularly administered from 0.0025 g (2.5 mg) to 0.06 - 0.08 g (60 - 80 mg) per day.
During the treatment period, symptoms of parkinsonism, akathisia, oculogyric crises, insomnia, seborrhea, greasiness of the face, sweating, menstrual irregularities can be observed.
The drug is contraindicated in organic diseases of the central nervous system. With caution is prescribed for diseases of the liver, kidneys and cardiovascular system in the stage of decompensation.
Method of release: tablets of 0.001 g (1 mg) and 0.01 g (10 mg); 1% solution in ampoules of 1 ml (10 mg).
