Sign Language Alphabet with Ukrainian Stars
Dactylology - (ancient-Greek. Δάκτυλος - finger + other-Greek. Λόγος - teaching) is a peculiar form of speech (communication), reproducing the spelling form of the word of speech through the fingers, because it uses the dactyl alphabet.
Thus, dactylology combines the features of both oral speech, as it is used for operational communication, and written, because it has the form of a sequence of characters in accordance with the norms of spelling.
Sometimes hearing people take the finger alphabet for the sign language of the deaf-and-dumb. However, these are different things: while the finger alphabet conveys the sounds of speech (letter by letter), sign marks represent whole words.

The photo project "Star Alphabet" was created to draw attention to the problem of deaf people and those who lose hearing - and this is more than 3 million Ukrainian. We want to say to all deaf and to those who lose hearing: “We hear you! We feel you! ”
The purpose of the Star Alphabet is to draw attention to the topic of hearing loss and adaptation of deaf people. According to statistics, every ninth Ukrainian loses his hearing and often does not know about it. Over 250,000 Ukrainian speak the sign language, but it is not taught in schools even at the basic level. The founders of "Feel" Lyudmila and Andrey Pyshnye believe that it is possible to change. That one day everyone will know how to say hello and thank you, and everyone who loses hearing will be able to find understanding and support.
Thanks to all the project participants! Your support is very important!
