Previous chapter Index Next chapter
1 And God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them: Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.
2 may all animals of the earth be afraid and tremble, and all the birds of the air, everything that moves on the earth, and all the fish of the sea: they have been given into your hands;
3 everything moving that lives will be for your food; like green herbs I give you everything;
4 only flesh with her soul, with her blood, do not eat;
5 I will seek your blood [in which] your life, I will seek it from every beast, I will also seek the soul of man from the hand of man, from the hand of his brother;
6 he who sheds the blood of man, that blood shall be shed by the hand of man: for man is made in the image of God;
7 but you multiply and multiply, and spread on the earth, and multiply on it.

eight And God said to Noah and his sons with him:
nine behold, I make My covenant with you and with your posterity after you,
ten and with every living soul that is with you, with birds and cattle, and with all the beasts of the earth that you have, with all that have come out of the ark, with all the animals of the earth;
eleven I make my covenant with you, that all flesh will no longer be consumed by the waters of the flood, and there will no longer be a flood to devastate the earth.

12 And God said: this is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and between you and between every living soul that is with you forever and ever:
13 I put My rainbow in the cloud so that it is a sign of the covenant between Me and between the earth.
fourteen And it will be, when I bring a cloud to the earth, a rainbow will appear in the cloud;
fifteen and I will remember My covenant, which is between Me and between you and between every living soul in all flesh; and there shall be no more flood water for the destruction of all flesh.
16 And there will be a rainbow in the cloud, and I will see it, and remember the everlasting covenant between God and between every living soul in all flesh that is on the earth.
17 And God said to Noah: this is the sign of the covenant that I made between me and between all flesh that is on the earth.

18 The sons of Noah that came out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Ham was the father of Canaan.
19 These three were the sons of Noah, and all the land was inhabited from them.
20 Noah began to cultivate the land and planted a vineyard;
21 and he drank the wine, and was drunk, and [lay] naked in his tent.
22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and going out he told his two brothers.
23 Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laying it on their shoulders, went backwards and covered the nakedness of their father; their faces were turned back, and they did not see the nakedness of their father.

24 Noah slept from his wine and found out what his lesser son had done over him,
25 and said: Cursed Canaan; he will be a servant of servants to his brothers.
26 Then he said: Blessed be the Lord God of Sims; Canaan will be his slave;
27 may God spread Japheth, and may he dwell in the tents of Shem; Canaan will be his slave.

28 And Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years.
29th All the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years, and he died.
