Damage to the joints, in which there is a displacement of the bones touching in the joint cavity with the release of one of them into the surrounding tissues. Occurs mainly under the influence of indirect injury. So, hip dislocation is possible when falling on a bent leg while simultaneously turning the leg inward, dislocating the shoulder when falling on an outstretched arm. Symptoms: pain in the limb, severe deformity (retraction) of the joint area, lack of active movements, change in the length of the limb.
First aid is to take measures to reduce pain: cold on the area of the damaged joint, painkillers (analgin, amidopyrin, etc.). Immobilization of the limb in the position that it took after the injury. Reduction of dislocation - a medical procedure (see Ch. Surgical diseases).
